inlays and onlays

Inlays and Onlays are lab-made restorations that are placed on teeth when the amount of lost tooth structure is too large to be restored with a simple filling. These alternatives to dental restorations can be fabricated from porcelain or composite resin. The process of making inlays and onlays are similar to crowns but they are the more conservative options to full contour crowns. For more information contact us 99869 47722 / 080 2334 0207

1. How are inlays and onlays placed?

- Inlays and Onlays requires two appointments- during the first visit, the decayed portion of the tooth is removed and the tooth is prepared for the restoration. To ensure proper fit and bite, our restorative specialist will take an impression or it will be 3-D scanned and sent to the lab for fabrication. The prepared tooth will be covered with a temporary restoration. At the second appointment, the temporary is removed and the inlay/onlay will be bonded to the tooth with a strong resin cement.
